Snore Guards & Sleep Apnea Treatment in Woodstock, GA

From loud snoring to untreated sleep apnea — real answers, real relief, and a CPAP alternative that patients actually use.

Why Your Mouth Matters for Your Sleep

If you snore loudly, wake up tired, or your partner has noticed you gasping for air, your mouth and airway are likely at the center of what’s going on. Untreated sleep apnea is linked to fatigue, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and more. The challenge is that most people don’t know they have it. The good news? We can help you figure out what’s actually happening — and we offer real solutions..

Snore Guards for Mild Snoring

For patients who snore but don’t have significant sleep apnea, a custom-fit snore guard can make a real difference. It gently positions your lower jaw forward during sleep, keeping your airway more open and reducing the vibration that causes snoring. It’s small, quiet, and comfortable. For more significant sleep-disordered breathing, we’ll recommend a sleep apnea screening first to make sure we’re treating the right problem.

At-Home Sleep Apnea Screening with Metabyte

We use the Metabyte at-home sleep testing system. It’s a small, comfortable device you take home and wear overnight, in your own bed, sleeping the way you normally would. No overnight stay in a sleep lab. No wires everywhere. No sleeping in an unfamiliar place. The device records your breathing patterns, oxygen levels, heart rate, and other markers throughout the night. You bring it back, and we sit down together to review the results in plain English.

Oral Appliance Therapy: The CPAP Alternative

CPAP machines work — when patients actually use them. The reality is that many people prescribed CPAP can’t tolerate sleeping with the mask, the noise, or the air pressure. They stop using it within months, and the sleep apnea quietly continues damaging the body. That’s where oral appliance therapy comes in. A custom-fit oral appliance looks similar to a retainer. You wear it during sleep, and it gently positions your lower jaw forward — keeping your airway open and preventing the soft-tissue collapse that causes obstructive sleep apnea. Small, quiet, portable. For mild to moderate sleep apnea, it’s highly effective. For severe cases, CPAP is still the gold standard — though oral appliances may be an option for patients who can’t tolerate it.

Custom-Fit from an iTero Digital Scan

Every snore guard and oral appliance we make is custom-fit using an iTero digital scan — no goopy impressions. The lab fabricates it specifically for your mouth and your bite. We deliver it, check the fit, and adjust as needed. If you’ve also been grinding or clenching, a custom night guard may be a better fit for your primary symptoms — we’ll tell you honestly which appliance your situation calls for.

What is sleep apnea screening?

Sleep apnea screening evaluates whether you may have obstructive sleep apnea — a condition where your breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep. At Towne Lake Family Dentistry, we use the Metabyte at-home testing system, which lets you complete the screening in your own bed instead of an overnight sleep lab. Results are reviewed with you in person.

How much do snore guards and oral appliances cost in Woodstock, GA?

Cost varies based on the appliance and your specific case. Many medical insurance plans cover oral appliance therapy when diagnosed sleep apnea is involved. Our In-Office Savings Program offers a 10% discount on snore guards when you add the Plus Program. We accept CareCredit, Sunbit, and Cherry for financing.

Does any of this hurt?

No. The Metabyte screening device is comfortable to wear and doesn’t involve needles or invasive procedures. Snore guards and oral appliances may feel bulky for the first few nights, but most patients adjust within a week and report that they sleep better wearing them than without.

How long does it take to get a snore guard or oral appliance?

Sleep apnea screening is one night of at-home testing, with results in a few days. Once we know what we’re treating, the custom appliance is fabricated by our lab over a few weeks. We deliver it, check the fit, and fine-tune as needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are the signs of sleep apnea?

Common signs include loud snoring, gasping or choking during sleep (often noticed by a partner), waking up tired despite a full night’s sleep, morning headaches, daytime sleepiness, difficulty concentrating, and irritability. If any of these sound familiar, a sleep screening is a good first step.

  • Why screen for sleep apnea at the dentist’s office?

Dentists are uniquely positioned to spot signs of sleep apnea — worn teeth from grinding, a narrow palette, or other physical signs in your mouth and throat. We can also offer treatment for mild-to-moderate cases through oral appliance therapy, which many patients prefer over a CPAP machine.

  • Am I a candidate for oral appliance therapy?

Most patients with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea are good candidates. Patients with severe sleep apnea, or those who prefer not to use CPAP, may also benefit. The first step is a Metabyte screening so we have the data to recommend the right approach.
